Hi! Welcome to my FFFX 2020 letter. This is one of my favourite exchanges—I love the idea of getting a full 10K or 2X5K for some of my favourite pairings. My requests are in no particular order, and please take my prompts as optional suggestions or starting points to use if you like them. If an another inspiration strikes you, I'd be delighted to see what you come up with. This is intended to be helpful, not to cramp you (as long as my DNWs are observed).
Please don't be put off by the length of this letter. I've listed a lot of general things I love, and under each fandom, some squee, three prompts and some information on locating the canon (if you are a kind pinch hitter or if you think you'd prefer another canon to the one you've matched on. ) As you can tell, I like a lot of things, and it's pretty easy to hit one of my likes.
If I've requested shippy couples and you want to write smut, I don't attach any particular significance to top/bottom configurations. although I DNW PIV. Also I accidentally copy-pasted my smut likes twice into most requests. This does not mean I'm not perfectly happy with G rated fics XD
I have gifts enabled, and welcomed, including art.

Malory Towers - Enid Blyton : Clarissa Carter/Wilhelmina "Bill" Robinson
My formative f/f OTP!
Seriously anything about these girls discovering their deeper feelings feelings at schools, in the holidays, or as adults is very welcome. I love them so much.
Fandom specific DNWs: unhappy ending, ending where the two of them are not together forever, Major Character Death
Canon and availability:
This is a series of mid twentieth-century girls' boarding school books.
All of the Enid Blyton authored Malory Towers books are available free on The Faded Page. They are light, short reads, but Bill doesn't actually appear until In the Third, and Clarissa until Upper Fourth; Upper Fourth is the only one you really need to be familiar with to write them.
(They don't appear at all in the TV adaption as yet)
I spent so much of my childhood wondering why my heart beat faster when Bill and Clarissa announced they were buying riding stables together after school, and daydreaming about the way unpopular, unpretty, weak Clarissa exploded into radiance after the form tomboy Bill found her. They are both so earnest and so sweet, and such unexpected soulmates. I love them, and Clarissa's story still feels like a fairytale to me despite her upperclass background. Plus there's the horses.
Optional Prompts:
- Future fic: they move into the cottage with their riding stables, and have to negotiate both being still in touch with Malory Towers and defining their own grown-up relationship: chums like sisters is all very well, but how do they know if the other wants something more romantic/sexual/permanent/marriage-like or if their own longings will cause disaster if expressed?
- Same as for St Clare's: Anything to do with developing and keeping up a hidden relationship at boarding school! Do they snog in the stables or sneak out of the dorm into dark music rooms? Do the other girls guess?
- I can't imagine Clarissa's wealthy and titled parents planned for their late-blooming beauty of a daughter to be living with her tomboy best friend and giving riding lessons permanently. I'd love anything to do with the tension between what the girls want and what their families expect.
St Clare's - Enid Blyton : Gladys Hilman/Mirabel Unwin
I love these two miserable outsiders so much, and their breakup over Games Captainship broke my heart.
Seriously anything about these girls discovering their deeper feelings feelings at schools, in the holidays, or as adults is very welcome. I love them so much.
Fandom specific DNWs: unhappy ending, ending where the two of them are not together forever, MCD
Canon and availability:
This is a series of mid twentieth-century girls' boarding school books.
All of the Enid Blyton authored St Clare's books are available free on The Faded Page and are light, short reads. The only two really relevant to this pairing are The Second Form and Fifth Formers.
Details
I, um, really like domineering types with a softness for meeker types, although I cheer Gladys on when she stands up for herself. I love the way they are both so unhappy and isolated, and so very different, but they are still the only two who really understand and appreciate each other. And oh, the drama over the Games Captainship and the way it drives a gap into their beautiful friendship whenm Gladys can't put up with Mirabel's behaviour anymore. I want them to kiss it out (and Gladys to be properly appreciated.)
Optional prompts:
- As above: I would love to see more of their fifth form problems resolved with a bit (a lot) more kissing, and a lot more frustrated longing and pining and drama.
- Hurt/comfort (I don't mind if you kill off Gladys's mother for this, although a tragedy as simple as a broken ankle on a solitary walk or a failed exam would be equally good) that lets Mirabel show hidden tenderness and chivalry under her brusqueness as she protects her Mouse. Or vice versa, with Gladys spoiling Mirabel.
- Same as for Malory Towers: Anything to do with developing and keeping up a hidden relationship at boarding school! Do they snog in the stables or sneak out of the dorm into dark music rooms? Do the other girls guess?

Revolutionary Girl Utena (Utena: Itsuka Kakumeisareru Monogatari visual novel) : Protagonist/Sanjouin Chigusa
*Chigusa!!! She is so deliciously bonkers, and so is the Protag, in her own way. They need to act on all that obsession.
Anything either inside the game or afterwards would be welcome.
Canon and availability
This is a Sega Saturn multi-route visual novel side story to the wonderful Utena anime, set just vbefore teh Black Rose arc. I can't remember where I found it, but it seems to be available with an English translation patch here.
Details
I wanted this game so much for so long. Even when it was translation patched, getting it to run on my laptop took days of trying and several emulators. But it was all worth it. It is made with so much love for the canon, especially the more humorous aspects, and Chigusa is amazing. She seems to have such complex motivations and then some of her evil comes across as just bizarrely childish pranks. The poor, long-suffering, obviously crushing protagonist… Clearly I think Chigusa should have transferred her love to the daughter, not the father. Please name the protagonist anything you want, or use first person instead. Happy endings not required, but welcome.
Optional prompts:
- Chigusa's revenge plan is disrupted by Developing Feelings for the sweet little protagonist, either because of her charming cluelessness or as part of a deliberate, nefarious seduction
- Anthy route: instead of spending her time with the Rose Bride on sexy bathing, the Protag actually attempts to use her powers to combat Chigusa, possibly resulting in sexually charged duelling
- The Protag falling for Chigusa results in her trying to find a way to redeem her
Blake's 7 - Cally/Jenna Stannis, Dayna Mellanby/Soolin, Olag Gan & Vila Restal, Orac & Vila Restal, Kerr Avon/Vila Restal, Char: Keera
*There is so much that would make me happy in my very first online fandom. Femslash! Avon/Vila! Vila doing non romantic things with Orac or Vila or Jenna! Backstory about Keera and how she became a Mutoid, or what life is like for her as a Mutoid.
Note: Gan and Vila is a gen pairing but I am genuinely equally happy with friendship or slash for them. Same goes for Vila and Orac if you think you can make it work.*
Canon and Availability: Blake's 7 is a British late 70s/early 80s dystopian space opera that was a kind of sibling to Doctor Who but darker, following a band of ragtag rebels and criminals that… well, didn't really have all that much fun. In Australia and the US it's on Britbox, and might be on Britbox or the equivalent in other countries. Vila and Avon are in all four series, Jenna and Gan in series 1-2, Orac (he's a computer) from the final episode of season 1 onwards, Dayna in series 3-4, Soolin in series 4, and Keera was a one hit wonder in episode 8.
Details
So this was my very first online fandom, and I was in love with it from… well, the time Vila pick-pocketed Blake in prison and Jenna snitched on him in episode 1. I have fondness for all the characters, and I would adore more femslash for the fandom, especially since I felt like the female rebels had fantastic personalities and backstories but were kept in the background too much. The Mutoids are so damn intriguing and I want more. Vila is my very favourite of all, he was formative for my love for cowardly, mouth and clever thieves: I ship him with Avon in all their prickly, resentful, bickering glory, I find Orac's interactions with Vila hilarious, and I love the idea of my thief caring and being cared for by Gan, whether it's platonic friendship or wild sex.
Happy endings not required for this fandom (obviously).
Optional Prompts
- Human or historical AUs. I would love to see these space opera characters in something as ridiculously mundane as a coffee shop, modern You've Got Mail type escapades, real life 1970s/80s, Victwardian society, death games, or maybe high fantasy--or gritty low fantasy.
- Shippy and/or (possibly reluctant) friendship fics, depending on if I requested / or &. Some ideas: working together on a heist (revolutionary or mercenary), trapped together on an enemy planet and learning to rely on each other, getting to know each other in prison, canon-divergent different meetings, learning respect and love and comfort (and desire) from each other in the forced proximity and constant danger of the Liberator and Scorpio, hurt/comfort, post-canon fixit, pining, undercover as a couple or as slave and mistress/master, canon-typical hijinks… Seriously I would be happy with 10, 000 words of bickering—or smut.
- Federation worldbuilding, especially in regard to the Grade/Caste system, "mind-adjusting" criminals (why did it fail with Vila?), or Mutoids. I nominated Keera as she's the only one with an established name, but I'm hungry for anything from her descent from high-up human to vampire slave cyborg, to Mutoids from Federation perspectives and accounts of their conditioning, to… anything about Mutoids, really, doesn't have to be Keera in particular.
Good Omens Unproduced Movie Script (1992) - Neil Gaiman - Aziraphale/Crowley
I am just starving for fic where the saddest, snarkiest Crowley comes to terms with being in love with his Aziraphale.
Fandom-specific DNW: Crowley being portrayed as a rapist and/or otherwise abusive in ways he is not in canon; Crowley and Aziraphale face-cast as Johnny Depp and Robin Williams
Canon and Availability
This is a script Neil Gaiman wrote for a potential Good Omens movie after Terry Pratchett backed out, and it is to the Good Omens book what the Heart of Gold's drinks machine output is to tea, in that there's certainly an angel and the Serpent of Eden looking for the lost Antichrist. I think it's supposed to be a heart-warming family movie for American 1990s audiences. I love it anyway. There's a copy of it here.
Details
My ship-goggles: Crowley and Aziraphale are always in love, in all canons, whether they realise it or not. And i really do have a weakness for script!Aziraphale and script!Crowley; Crowley is so much more prickly, anxious and defensive, and nasty because of it; the sweet pet of a script!Aziraphale comes across as more naive and soft than his other incarnations. But because of that, the glimpses of softness under Crowley's exterior and the flashes of manipulativeness or bitchiness from Aziraphale feel like they count even more. Also, Crowley's bizarre incompetence combined with apparent immaculate cool makes me love him.
Optional Prompts
- There is no version of "Crowley comes to realise/admits what Aziraphale means to him and determines to make it up to him and/or win him and then they kiss/fuck/get married/all three/delete inapplicable" that I won't eat up with a spoon. It would be good for the demon to eat humble pie with someone nicer than Satan…
- "I thought you were dead/I was dying and I confessed my love and now we're both alive and have to deal with it." Canon had just a touch of that when they confront Satan, but more--Heaven isn't happy with Aziraphale, maybe, or Crowley has to face the fact that if he's banned from Hell he probably doesn't get replacement bodies?—would be delicious.
- We already have canon close to "There's only one bed and people think we're a couple." More please. Bonus points for it being extremely awkward and mortifying (especially for Crowley).
Good Omens (Radio) - Aziraphale/Crowley (Good Omens Radio)
I've requested Radio before, because they are the most out of all these versions of boys, but what I didn't realise until lately was that I had an abridged version, and just SO MUCH delicious Aziraphale bitchiness and Crowley being… Radio Crowley had been cut. My always smouldering love has reignited.
I just love them.
Canon and Availability
A pretty faithful adaptation of my favourite comedy about the Antichrist, yet with distinctive characterisations of the Ineffable Husbands. It's available pretty much wherever you can buy or borrow audiobooks—my library has it as a downloadable audio loan, and yours might too. This is the 2015 dramatisation with Peter Serafinowicz and Mark Heap, not the more recent full cast audiobook.
Details
God, the Radio boys. They are just so at ease with each other, so teasing and fond, Crowley's voice is so delicious (and yet he's such a smug dork, when he can't resist going on about his watch to his fellow demons I died a million deaths) and Aziraphale is so malicious and camp. I don't mind if they've been together since Eden or come together post-Armageddon (or at any other time), but even if they act like FWB/EWB, I would really like some indication that they know (deep down or explicitly) that they have come to mean much more than that to each other. In my world, Aziraphale and Crowley are always in love.
Optional Prompts
- Getting together. Whether it's in Eden, after the Apocalypse, or at any interesting time in history, I'm endlessly interested in how an angel and a demon managed the fairly fundamental rebellion of becoming allies and lovers.
- This Aziraphale may be better at anticipating than thwarting Crowley, but his worldliness compared to other Aziraphales suggests he is actually more than capable of thwarting. What competitions or games have they had through the ages?
- I like the suggestion that Hell knows perfectly well Aziraphale is Crowley's (only?) friend. How do they know? What of Heaven? How do the two sides deal with their too-friendly agents?
Nero Wolfe - Rex Stout - Archie Goodwin/Saul Panzer, Archie Goodwin/Nero Wolfe
Archie is the most precious thing ever, with his hard-boiled narration and his nice glasses of milk. I double-ship him, either with the bickering codependent loyalty kink with Wolfe or his starry-eyed admiration of Saul.
I'd be delighted with anything from smut to casefic-while-getting-together.
Fandom specific DNW: Archie actively disliking Wolfe, fat-phobia (canon-typical dwelling on Wolfe's weight and laziness is fine, suggesting he is disgusting because of it is not).
Canon Availability
A long American cozy/hardboiled detective fusion starting in the 1930s, narrated by the young and handsome assistant detective/secretary/right-hand man to an obese, cranky (in both senses) genius detective who rarely leaves his home. "Wherever good books are sold", as the saying goes, or check your local library (especially ebooks). You don't need to be familiar with the whole series to get a handle on the voice and characterisation. There's also a pretty faithful 2001 A&E TV adaptation, and despite being a book lover, quite honestly I wouldn't be able to tell the difference in a fic if you have access to it.
Details
I love these books so much, the whole atmosphere of them. I shipped Archie/Wolfe right from the start, given the prickly, codependent, yet loyal and mutually admiring relationship between them, and frankly I am always gone on young gorgoeus man/older fat man or sunshine/grumpy. I'm a more recent convert to Archie/Saul: Archie just so obviously thinks the sun shines out of his backside. Let's just halt the narrative again to remind everyone just how clever, talented and all-around amazing Saul is, okay? And both pairings hit my "one partner is far more conventionally attractive than the other" kink. I enjoy the idea that Archie dates beautiful women and falls for ordinary looking or ugly men.
Optional Prompts
- This is a fandom I am really into body-worship for. Archie seems pretty damn hot and would repay body worship, but I want it to be reciprocal, whether it's short and ordinary looking (but perfect in Archie's eyes) Saul or Wolfe in all his massive glory. I'm also more than okay with consensual, affectionate feederism, if you want to go that way: Archie always seems so invested in Wolfe being huge.
- Genre related! If you can write casefic plus shipping, then I'm in awe; or maybe something mystery-related like captured together, "Oh God I thought you were dead", hurt-comfort after a shooting, playing bodyguard against attacks or poisoning, undercover in gay bars and bath houses…
- I know this is pretty out there, but I collect and use fountain pens, and Archie is, after all, a secretary (among other things). If you managed to wind a plot (comic or McGuffin or catalyst for a big fight) around Archie's pen, that would be fantastic.
Chronicles of Narnia - C.S. Lewis: Jill Pole & Eustace Scrubb, Jill Pole/Eustace Scrubb
Jill and Eustace are my favourites (and The Silver Chair my favourite Narnia book.) I would prefer something that steers away from the tragedy of The Last Battle, either a canon-divergence AU where it didn't happen, or something earlier--perhaps something set at Experiment House, or an extra adventure to Narnia. Focus on Narnian or Other Realm world building would be amazing. (What if they did get Polly and Diggory's rings back?)
Gen or romance, child or adult is fine with me! Unrequested pairings are also fine if you don't ship Jill/Eustace, but I have a strong preference for same-sex relationships in that case. (I am soppy and want them to remain Most Important Boy/Girl to each other).
Fandoms specific DNW: The End of Narnia, the train crash, the Cair Paravel massacre, the "problem of Susan", smut for this pairing.
Canon and Availability
Classic twentieth century "children go on adventure in magical world" fantasy, with strong Christian and Roman and Greek mythology thematic tropes. These are pretty readily available at libraries and bookshops, including in second hand book shops, and are quick reads. I'm sure I was not the only kid to get a set as a Christening gift and a Sunday School prize. The Silver Chair alone is enough for Jill and Eustace's characterisation, although they also appear in The Last Battle.
Details
Scrubb and Pole for the win. I love them so much, their mistakes and bickering and inner strength and flaws and wonderfulness. They are just so real. Experiment House and the Scrubbs also fascinate me, although generally I am much more pro democratic/un-schooling, feminism and calling parents by their first names than Lewis was. I have a weakness for bullied kids. And Narnia itself: these books breathe a magic for me that no other fantasies have ever reached. The Silver Chair was the first I read as a wee kid, and narrowly remains my favourite.
I realise I've basically DNWed The Last Battle, so I apologise if that's your favourite. It makes me too sad, discussions of Susan's fate set me off running, and I don't want my faves to die as children, dammit. I do love Tirian, Jewel, Puzzle etc if you want to include them.
I didn't DNW it and it's not enforceable, but if you're reading this: I have a phobia of rats and mice. I have to tell myself Reepicheep is a squirrel or a rabbit. I would really appreciate if they are left off the roster of talking beasts.
Optional Prompts
- Canon divergence where the Friends of Narnia do indeed retrieve the rings (hopefully for a reason other than all the Last battle mess) and Jill and Eustace end up in the Wood Between Worlds… or anywhere else.
- I am up for Narnia being crossovered with any of my other requested fandoms or characters or indeed any other fandom I have ever requested (see the app).
- Jill and Eustace in their own world, as children (Experiment House!) or growing up adults remembering Narnia.
- Going back to Narnia for more adventures, hopefully not 100% on the freezing marshes and snow and things (although being spoiled and nearly getting eaten by Kind Giants was iddy as hell, so things like that are welcome)
Thank you so much for offering one of my fandoms. Please contact the mods with any questions, and I hope you enjoy this exchange!
